Second generation biodiesel

Sofiprotéol joins an innovative program to produce fuel from biomass.

Using biomass for energy

Known as BioTfueL, the French program for producing 2nd generation biodiesel through thermochemistry is developing a chain of procedures that will make it possible to manufacture fuel for diesel motors from rarely used agricultural residues (e.g., logging waste).

Second generation biofuels will supplement the 1st generation offer, with even greater ecological returns.

All biomass pre-treating and conditioning operations—roasting in particular—will be tested at Sofiprotéol’s Compiègne site.

An ambitious national program

The BioTfueL program received support from the ADEME Demonstration Fund, a fund that supports innovative 2nd generation biofuel projects developed following the Grenelle Environment Round Table.
