Oilseed and protein crop industry
The vegetable oil and protein industry, Prolea, includes producers of oilseeds – rapeseed, sunflower, soy – and proteins – peas, fava beans, lupins – as well as a number of other industry players.
Sofiprotéol is involved in all aspects of the industry
- Prior to agricultural production: supporting research in biotechnology, seeds, phytosanitary products, and other inputs.
- Following production: opening up new markets for oilseed and protein crop products.

Various crops
Oilseeds
- Rapeseed
Rapeseed is cultivated for the oil extracted from its seeds. It also contains vegetable proteins used in the production of oilseed cakes for livestock feed.

- Sunflower
Like rapeseed, sunflower is cultivated for its seeds, which produce oil and oilseed cakes.

- Soy
Soy is primarily used to feed livestock pigs and fowl. Industrial extraction of the oil leaves behind an oilseed cake, which accounts for 80% of the bean’s weight and is a major source of protein and energy for animals.

Protein crops
- Peas
Dry peas are intended primarily for pigs and fowl. They are crushed and mixed with grains and oilseed cakes to form pellets, flour, or soup.
